Community Efforts Keep Farm Stocked

Local growers and kids help out while supply is low.

Several open glass jars filled with sliced cucumbers in brine, topped with sprigs of fresh dill. More jars and kitchen containers sit on a countertop in the background.

Sally and Patrick are still away on holidays and supply has been pretty low from the garden, so we put out a call to some wonderful local organic growers who have kept us ticking over until Wagtail’s Garden are properly up and running again. A huge thank you to Jodie and Do at Fair Harvest, Rob and Dawn from Margaret River Citrus and Ari from just up the road, as well as the kids from our education program for supplying radiant looking greens, herbs and citrus over the last week or two.

We said farewell to Melanie last Friday, who has been our cake and pickle making superstar in the kitchen for the last couple of years but has moved on to work in her dream job in a brand new restaurant kitchen. We will miss her terribly but look forward to hearing all about the new job when it starts. Sarah, who has been with us since Burton Road days is picking up the kitchen role from Mel and is already doing an amazing job.

We’re still on the look out for a new staff member to compliment our existing team in the cafe. If you love customer service and are trying to find a casual job for a couple of days a week, please email [email protected] and we can send you more info about the role.

Rows of pruned grapevines supported by posts and wires stretch across a green field. A line of trees sits on the horizon beneath a bright blue sky with wispy clouds.

The view from the verandah at the moment is lovely. Green grass, cows meandering by, sleeping vines and sunny skies (mostly).

Close-up of a pea plant with broad green leaves and two purple pea blossoms. Green stems and foliage fill the background.

More snowpea pics, the flowers are just so pretty!

Several brown chickens with red combs forage on a grassy field, with one chicken pecking at the ground in the foreground. More chickens stand and peck in the background near fence posts.

We get to chicken-sit when Sally is away and love looking after their chooks. They scored some leftover cooked rice the other day and thought it was Christmas.
