Fundraiser for Aussie Underwater Hockey Champs

Help Amélie and Oscar make it to Turkey for the champs

It’s going to be a wet week, so good thing there’s plenty of room inside at the farm!

Lots of seating, stuff to keep the kids occupied, free wifi and rather good coffee. We’re open Monday to Saturday and would love to see you. If the surf comp is running, we will have it showing live on the projector too.

Open shed-like hall with corrugated metal walls and a high insulated ceiling, furnished with wooden tables and chairs and several leather couches. A string of colorful bunting hangs above a sideboard, with plants and two windows along the walls.

Many of you will have seen them at the farm, but these two in the photos below are Amélie and Oscar - sister and brother duo who are a part of the Gathered family and underwater hockey superstars. They are the elder two of Mark and Andrea’s four children, Andrea being a very dear friend who passed away just over a year ago.

Amélie and Oscar have both been selected to represent Australia in the international underwater hockey championships coming up in July in Turkey, but need to do a serious amount of fundraising to get themselves there. What follows is some extra info from their dad and details on how you can help, and we’re also putting a call out for contributions to a raffle prize. Please let us know by responding to this email or texting 0433 157 096 if you have anything that can be included in a raffle that we hope to put together in the coming weeks. Thanks so much!

From Mark…

I’m incredibly proud to share that two of my kids, Amélie and Oscar, have been selected to represent Australia in underwater hockey. After much hard work and playing at elite level, they have been chosen for the U19 womens and U19 mens Australian teams. The world championships will be held in Türkiye in July 2026.

Underwater hockey is fully self-funded, as there is no sponsorship. This makes competing in a world championship incredibly expensive so we’re asking for your support to help them travel to Türkiye and to compete for Australia.

If you are able to assist, please follow this link to donate. It’s crucial that you mention ‘Amélie Bailey’ or ‘Oscar Bailey’ (or both) in the supporter comment section. Only donations with their names will be allocated specifically to them. Please include their surname as there are other Australian athletes named Amelie and Oscar.

Your donation will go towards flights, accommodation, food, competition fees, uniforms, training camps, coaching and chaperones. Every donation, no matter how small, is greatly appreciated and is tax deductible. If you are unable to donate, sharing this campaign is equally helpful, so please spread the word!

With gratitude.

Mark Bailey
