Autumn Harvest Updates and Farm Animal Sightings

Check out our organic produce boxes and vineyard animal visitors.

Assorted fresh produce arranged on a wooden table, including kale, a halved squash and cabbage, bananas, onions, purple beans, potatoes, radishes, tomatoes, carrots, turnips, broccoli, leafy greens, and a zucchini. Sunlight casts strong shadows across the vegetables.

Pictured here are the contents of our large ($90) mixed fruit and veg box from last week. All organic and everything except the bananas and carrots are from the farm, the local area or from Perth. We don’t publish the contents of our boxes in advance as it’s only decided on the day it’s packed, after we see what has come in fresh and looking good.

You can choose from either a $50, $70, $90 or $110 box of just organic vegetables or mixed fruit and veg. Most of our regulars opt for a fortnightly box in a larger size as the produce is so fresh, it easily lasts that long and you alway get a bit of extra value too. Head to the online farm shop to give one a go!

Black cow walking along dry grass and dirt in front of a row of green grapevines under a clear blue sky. Irrigation tubing runs along the base of the vines behind the cow.

The cows are on the mooove (sorry). Grape harvesting is done and dusted for another year, and the cows, sheep and alpacas have been let in to the vineyard. They often wander close along the fence line right outside the cafe verandah in the early mornings and late afternoons, and are lovely to watch on their ramblings.

Two men stand inside a large arched shed beside stacked wooden barrels on metal racks, with one holding up an empty wine glass. Machinery and covered containers are visible in the background.

Well done Luke and friends for another successful vintage! Luke works hard on a normal day, but somehow manages to take it up a notch at this time of year. Grapes have been brought in, processed and put away in barrels to be bottled at a later date.

Look out for the Walcliffe Wines label at Wines of While in Perth or ask when next at the farm shop and we can get you in contact with Luke for direct sales. The wines are (very) small batch, organic and naturally fermented, with no sulphur added. Well worth tracking down!

Autumn means melons! Last week we had certified organic watermelons, rockmelons and honeydews all come through the door at the same time. It’s times like this when eating with the seasons is at its best.
