Happy New Year! Wishing you the very best of health and happiness in 2026. Also, how gorgeous is this photo of a blue banded bee, snapped in the garden this week? These beautiful creatures are native to this part of the world and can often be spotted locally.
Whereas in the past we have offered kids art sessions at the farm in the school holidays, they won’t be happening this time as we focus on building up the cafe, however! We will regularly set up invitations to play for kids aged from toddlers to early teens. This will vary day to day and might include water play or playdough outside, painting or spare parts upcycling inside. They will mostly be free, sometimes a nominal cost will be charged to cover the materials but it won’t be much. Stations will be set up in the mornings and generally packed up around midday, depending on how much interest there is in playing with them!

The greenhouses in Wagtail’s Market Garden on the farm are going full throttle at the moment and look amazing.

Beautiful heirloom tomatoes are being harvested by Sally and Patrick every few days at the moment. They look and smell amazing. Did you know that storing tomatoes in the fridge affects their flavour? The tomatoes from the farm are harvested in the morning, put out in the shop on trays, and making their way to customer’s kitchens in a steady flow so that we don’t need to worry about refrigeration. If you’re dropping in, be sure to have a good smell of the tomato trays, few things smell so good.

The resident king skink braves the front verandah sometimes after hours. It usually lives on the rear verandah under the crates, but will make an appearance when it thinks everyone has left for the day. they have been spotted munching on cauliflower leaves and strawberries in the past.
