Community Talks and Local Show Recap

Highlights from our recent community talks and local show.

Prize-winning flower posies in small glass jars sit on white-draped tiered tables, each with ribbons and entry cards. In the background, people walk around inside a large indoor hall with other floral displays.

We had the first of our free community talks last week with the very knowledgeable Peter Lane coming in to chat about the geology of the Margaret River area. The turnout included a lovely mix of homeschool kids and their parents, as well as some members of the community. There were a few technical hiccups, which Pete was very gracious about and Charity saved the day with her cables and know how. Big thanks to Peter and Charity.

More talks will be scheduled over the coming months and will be advertised through the weekly newsletters and social media, so watch this space! If you are someone who would like to share what they know with others or there’s a topic you would like to know more about, please let us know by responding to this email. We’re particularly interested in reaching out to elders in the community, with all their experience and knowledge, and it can be about anything you’re passionate about.

The local agricultural show was held yesterday and has taken up much of our time in the last week, mostly all kid related with setting up and packing down displays and benching entries for the various art, craft and garden sections, but it was worth it. Such a wonderful community event, and completely run by volunteers too! Hats off to all involved in the organising, setting up and packing up. It’s a huge operation with thousands of people attending and there will have been many people juggling their everyday commitments with volunteering. Already looking forward to next year.

Pictured here are the contents of one of the extra large mixed organic fruit and veg boxes that went home with a lovely customer last week. It contained 20 different varieties of fruit and veg, all organic and harvested fresh from the farm as much as possible.
