Zucchini Harvest and Geology Talk This Week

Zucchini arrives, geology talk, and kids' art sessions

Rows of young vegetable plants and a strip of purple-flowering lavender run alongside low hoop-row covers in a field. A large white polytunnel greenhouse and a small shed sit in the background under a cloudy sky.

The garden is looking amazing these days, a testament to the hard yards put in by Sally and Patrick. Zucchini made its first appearance last week! It feels like the top of a cresting wave about to hit, with the glut coming on soon, followed not long after by the tomato wave. What a good problem to have.

If you happen to be around, Pete Lane will be stopping by this coming Tuesday to give a free talk about the geology of the Margaret River area, starting at 10:30am. This talk is open to all, just turn up. While the talk is offered for free, a gold coin donation is appreciated as it will go toward providing Pete and Jan a thank you lunch and coffee.

Assorted fresh vegetables arranged on a wooden slatted surface, including celery, Swiss chard, radishes, turnips, broccoli, onions, cabbage, carrots, leeks, peppers, leafy greens, beans, sweet potatoes, avocados, cucumbers, and zucchinis. Two bagged bunches of greens sit near the center.

The recent contents of a set price medium ($70) veg box. All organic from the farm or certified organic from other growers.

Two children sit at a table painting with watercolors, with a paint palette, brushes, and scissors scattered around. Papers on the table show colorful watercolor blobs and a face-like shape with large blue circles.

The kids learning about watercolour blending and tessellated patterns in the farm sessions last week.
