Kids Sessions and Garden Veg This Week

Explore kids activities and fresh greens from the garden.

The warmer weather is bringing on the goods in the garden! So much greenery coming through the door courtesy of Sally and Patrick. The farm shop gets stocked up regularly straight from the garden patch with gems like these radish and salad turnips as well as Wagtail’s famous salad mix, kailan, pan choi, silverbeet, carrots, spring onion and parsnips.

Sourcing your veg from farm shops and other small local business not only means getting your hands on the most nutritious and freshest veg, but also building community resilience through strong local food networks and reducing environmental impact with low food miles (in the case of farm shops, no food miles) and minimal packaging. Never underestimate the impacts of your everyday purchasing decisions - they really do make a difference.

There is only one day of kids sessions these school holidays and it’s this coming Tuesday! Choose from All about the Ocean in the morning, or Farm Kids in the afternoon, or both! The weather is going to be perfect for outdoor explorations. In the morning session, kids can try their hand at watercolour painting, clay creations, upcycled craft and felt toys (like the whale pictured), all with an ocean theme. Click here to be taken to the booking page.

Four watermelon halves sit on a wooden table, each with a metal spoon stuck into the red flesh. The cut rinds are green and white, and the spoons are positioned for scooping.

Certified organic watermelon has been coming in the last couple of weeks and it’s been so good! The kids have been eating it like this, a massive wedge scooped out with a spoon.

Two plates of golden muffins dusted with powdered sugar sit on a wooden table. One plate is floral-patterned and the other is a white platter with a floral center.
