Citrus fruits grow so well in our part of the world and while some growers have a smaller harvest this year (thanks to the extra dry summer), the quality is as excellent as always. The farm shop is stocked with locally grown, organic lemons, limes, grapefruit and oranges which means you can use the whole fruit, skin and all, without having to worry about the chemical residues found on conventionally grown fruit.

Wondering what to do with them? Here are some of our favourite ways to enjoy citrus:

  • Sliced and popped in a teapot, along with fresh ginger and local raw honey for a soothing tea,

  • Thinly sliced and added to sparkling water with plenty of ice,

  • Use the zest and juice in salad dressings,

  • A squeeze of lime or lemon juice over a serve of soup or curry really enhances the flavour,

  • Lemons and orange slices baked with chicken, garlic, fresh thyme and honey are a match made in heaven,

  • Incorporate into a zillion delicious cake and slice recipes, including this Lemon Drizzle Cake.
