Preserve Citrus and New Farm Shop Hours

Learn citrus preservation and see our updated hours.

Citrus season is the best! We’re busy preserving from the glut both at home and at the farm by freezing and dehydrating oranges, lemons and limes. It’s so easy to do and ensures a year round supply of delicious fruit.

If you haven’t done it before - freezing citrus is so easy. Zest or grate the skin and store in a zip lock bag in the freezer, then squeeze out the juice and freeze in an ice cube tray (for lemons and limes), before transposing to a container or bag, or in the case of oranges just peel and cut up into bite size pieces then arrange in a single layer in a zip lock bag. We have been using the same plastic bags for years. They last ages if not jostled around too much in the freezer.

And finally, we’re increasing our open hours to include Mondays starting this coming week. The farm shop and cafe will be open 8am to 1pm, which means you are most welcome to stop by:

Monday - 8am to 1pm

Tuesday - 7am to 3pm

Wednesday - 7am to 5:30pm

Thursday - 7am to 5:30pm

Friday - 7am to 3pm

The online farm shop continues to be open all hours, seven days a week, for boxes that can be collected Thursday to Saturday. The order cut off time is 8am on Tuesdays. It’s through the online farm shop that you can order set price boxes, like the one pictured here, which was packed fresh for a lovely customer just last week.

Places are limited to keep the session sizes small and allow the kids to make use of the space. Neurodiverse kids and kids of all abilities are welcome.
